Weekly Confession: #2

The Confession: Lust
The Object: Pens
The Victim: Any Pen that I can get my hands on

A lot of people do not realize this, but I have an unhealthy obsession with pens. I have roughly over 500 pens which can be found throughout my office at school, church, and home, in my car, in my coat pockets, laptop bag, my man purse, and many other various locations.

I have various type of pens, from the normal, everyday “bic” pens, to almost every type of medication pen, to pens that light up, and even ones that have a massage function.

I think my obsession with pens started when I was about 3 years old. I was sitting in nursery at church and found a pencil on the floor. Well, I was quite intrigued by this writing device and starting playing with it. Well, being the fact that I was 3, I took the pencil and stuck the eraser side in my nose.

The eraser got stuck and my parents had to take me to the E.R. to have it removed. From this tragic experience, I determined that pencils were of the devil (especially the #2 kind…). However, I was torn in half by the idea of never being able to play with this new found device again. And then one day, a nursery friend of mine turned me onto pens. It had all the play of a pencil without the harmful effects of an eraser.

From that day on, I have been in love with pens. I will pick up pens anywhere I can find them. From hotels, churches, businesses, doctor’s offices, and anywhere else that might be offering a “free” pen. I have even spent money on my habit of lust, and have bought various pens from such places as ebay and pens r us (okay, pens r us doesn’t exist, but I’m working on it…).

I hope that one day I can be free from this lust I have for pens. But, until that day comes, it would probably be best that you keep your pens out of my sight, or your pens might just end up in my obsession possession.
