TO OUR FUTURE DAUGHTER

Dear Mrs. [R]uebin Switzer,

I’m writing you this letter to let you know how much you are loved. We have been praying for you ever since the day [R]uebin was born.

We have no idea what your name is, and there is a good chance that we haven’t even met you yet. However, we pray for you each day. We are praying that you will be protected from the things of this world. We are praying that your parents will raise you to honor God. We are praying that you will preserve yourself for our son. We are praying that you will grow into the virtuous women that God wants you to be.

We are also praying that [R]uebin walks in the path of Christ. That he will be the husband that you deserve. We are praying that we raise him to treat you with respect, and cherish you more than any other woman in the world. We are praying that he becomes the leader that he is suppose to be. We are praying that he is the Godly father that your children will so desperately need.

And though you most likely won’t see this letter for at least 20 years from now, we want you to know that God has something special for you both and we are praying that He uses you both for great things! We love you both. We love you…

Sincerely,
Seth & Pam (Your future Father & Mother in Law)

GOING CO[R]PORATE

Pam and I have been praying about the next steps for The [R] Project. We have decided that it’s time to go corporate… that’s right, we are starting the process of becoming an official non profit organization.

We believe that God is ready for The [R] Project to do bigger things.

Please pray that we can find a good attorney, accountant, and the funds needed to go through this process.

There’s more to come, and there’s more to share about the future of The [R] Project, but that’s going to wait for now…

The [R]evolution of Hope continues…

Minute To Win It – Christmas Games

As most youth pastors, I love myself some Minute to Win It. All the games are easily recreated in the “Youth Group” setting. So it shouldn’t come as a surprised that when they came out with the “Christmas Edition” of the show, I was pretty pumped… just in time for our Youth Group Christmas Party…

I uploaded all the video blueprints for the games they have used so far… check them out:

CHRISTMAS BALL CONVEYOR

WREATH RELAY

RAISE YOUR GLASS

JINGLE IN THE TRUNK

FACE THE GINGERBREAD MAN

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR

CHRISTMAS CLIFF HANGER

CHRISTMAS BALL

You can download a PDF description of all these games and more at http://www.nbc.com/minute-to-win-it/M2WI_Holiday_Activity_Guide.pdf

I BET I’M LESS COMPETITIVE THAN YOU ARE

Okay, so I have a problem.

I’m not quite as perfect as some would think I am.

I know… shocking to say the least.

But, here’s the deal… I’m overly competitive.

Now Biblically, good competition is encouraged. “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24.

But, healthy competition also requires good sportsmanship, attitude, and not yelling at your 3 year old nephew when he schools you at Mario Kart. (he cheated, I swear…)

Healthy competition also requires one not to get upset at his dad on the Volleyball court, and excuse his sister of not “shuffling” her cards properly.

So yes, I have a problem.

My name is Seth, and I’m overly competitive.

PULL THE TRIGGER

Pull the TRIGGER! (by Anthony Milas, originally posted here)

PULL THE TRIGGER is a common expression meaning to make a decision that causes an important action to take place. So what decision have you been toying with making that just needs to be made? Here are some thoughts about making decisions…

1. DECISIONS are necessary for the dream of Jesus to advance.
2. DECISIONS are not about being popular, they are about doing right.
3. RIGHT DECISIONS will make a ministry, WRONG DECISIONS will break a ministry.
4. DECISIONS should be made in light of WHAT SHOULD BE, NOT WHAT IS
5. DECISIONS force us to think forward
6. DECISIONS are what leaders do
7. DECISIONS should be well thought out

These are just some random thoughts off the top of my little brain. What DECISION do you need to PULL THE TRIGGER ON?
