Expelled the Movie

It’s funny how we live in a country where we are suppose to have “Freedom” in religion, thoughts, education, etc…  A country that was built on a biblical foundation.

Now the Christian foundations are becoming more and more extinct. Our schools have said no to prayer, people are crying to take “God” out of our money, and we are taught that Evolution is science and any other type of thinking is just “crazy” religious beliefs.

I don’t know a lot about Ben Stein, but he has taken part in a documentary which looks at the subject of creation, and scientists who are discovering that perhaps we are created by a “higher” intelligence.

I’ve seen a lot of feedback about this movie from both sides of the coin. Some who are praising this for shedding light on a subject that we don’t often hear about.  And those who are just saying that this is just another “Christian” thing which we will make a big fuss about.

Well, I do think we need to make a fuss about it. Christians need to start making more and more of a fuss about things. Taking a stand for what is right. A stand for our beliefs. A stand for the TRUTH.

New Sins. . .

The Vatican lists “New Sins”. You can read the article here.

What I find interesting is the last the few paragraphs.

“But Girotti also bemoaned that fewer and fewer Catholics go to confession at all.

He pointed to a study by Milan‘s Catholic University that showed that up to 60 percent of Catholic faithful in Italy stopped going to confession.

In the sacrament of Penance, Catholics confess their sins to a priest who absolves them in God’s name.

But the same study by the Catholic University showed that 30 percent of Italian Catholics believed that there was no need for a priest to be God’s intermediary and 20 percent felt uncomfortable talking about their sins to another person.”

It appears that a growing number of Catholics are realizing that they do not need to go through a man to talk with God.

Our God is amazing, He is available to us at anytime. In fact He encourages us to talk with Him on a continued basis. We do not to look at a man to intercede for us, but as Christ Jesus Himself.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. – 1 Timothy 2:5

Our current message series…

Here’s the Write Up.
“FAILURE – We have probably all felt that way at one time or another. But remember some of the greatest men in history failed sometimes hundreds of times before they succeeded.

In fact, the greatest figure of all time was classified as a failure by many. Yet today He offers hope and direction for failures like you and me.

Join us for a series of messages on the Greatest Failures of the Bible from March 2 through 23 (Easter)

Services times 10:30 Easter Sunday 9:00 and 10:30”

We have posted “Famous” failures around the church, and have “yard” signs along the sidewalk leading in the church building.

I’ll be posting some pics of the inside and outside shortly.

Perservering in Purity

This is a poster we designed for “Purity Week” which took place last fall at a local school I work at.

Our inspiration for the text on the poster and the theme for the week came from 1 Timothy 4:12.

“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.”

What Does Your Heart CRAVE?

Recent Message Series: What Does Your Heart CRAVE?

Week 1: What does it mean to CRAVE?

Yesterday a lady in our church receives news that her brother in law hung himself. Today, one of my student’s get news that a friend of a friend killed himself this past valentine’s day. Both are left with so many questions. Both are dealing with a lost of someone they know.

Death is real.

What drives someone to the point where they feel the only answer is “Death”? Why do we hurt so much that we just want to end the pain by any means necessary?

People need answers. People need hope.
