The Little Things

I just received an email from one of my former teens. It’s awesome when you find out that they were actually listening all those years in youth group! God certainly can take the little things and turn them into amazing things…

Stuff Christians Like…

This has become one of my favorite blogs to follow….

He compares the different translations of the Bible with G.I. Joes… how sweet is that? I think I’m closer to Flint than most of the others….

Numbers of Hope

The other day I picked up a book by Max Lucado called “Numbers of Hope”. It’s a book based on one of the greatest known verses in the Bible, John 3:16.

“For God so Loved the world That He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever BELIEVES in Him shall not PERISH but have ETERNAL LIFE.”

These 26 words perhaps provide the greatest amount of Hope in which anyone can have. The Hope that God loves us. The Hope that God gives to us. The Hope that if We Believe, We can Live.

I’m also learning what exactly Hope is… it’s more than just “I HOPE this will happen one day…” The greek word for the hope in the New Testament is “Elpis” which literally means “Looking Forward To” or with “Great Expectation”.

I truly have a HOPE for Eternity. I look forward to seeing my son, Nathaniel. I look forward and can’t wait to stand in the presence of my God. He is ultimately the reason for my HOPE, and He has provided HOPE for the entire world.

It amazes me that we often take those 26 words of HOPE for granted so often. Those numbers are seen everywhere… John 3:16… But, how often do we actually reflect on that verse? The message of HOPE that God is providing?

I don’t fully understand why God allows certain events to take place in our lives, but I do know that God has a plan for everything, and He is in ultimate control. That is where my HOPE lies, in the truth of God’s Word and His promises towards me.

Are you living “elpis” type hope?

the Revolution of HOPE

This past week I have come to realize something HUGE. God is more REAL to me than He has ever been before.

Not that God has changed in this past week, but my relationship with Him has grown leaps and bounds in just a matter of a few days.

I’ve seen Him work in my life in a miraculous way. Taking the pain and suffering of losing a child and turning it into a Glorification of Who God is.

The scriptures have a new breathe of life in them now when I read. My conversations with God have become more personal through prayer. Even praise and worship songs have a more powerful meaning when I speak the words.

God can do Infinitely more than I could ever imagine. I now am finally experiencing what I knew to be true, but never quite understood.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish INFINITELY more than we might ask or think. – Ephesians 3:20

He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces. – Isaiah 25:8a

My life has been put into perspective this past week. I don’t completely understand why everything has taken place the way it has, but I realize that God is working in an awesome way.

I read this verse this morning, and am encouraged that one day there will be no more death and no more tears.

However, until that day comes, we are called by God to “Go into this world” and “preach” the gospel to everyone we come into contact with. Some of that preaching is through actual “talking”, but the majority of our witness is through our actions.

My life has been changed by my son. God has used him to strengthen my relationship with my wife and draw me closer in my walk with Christ.

I’m ready for what God has next.

The Revolution of HOPE has begun.

Baby Switz – Memorial Service

As most of you already know, our son passed away in his womb this past Friday.  He officially entered into this world yesterday at 8:26pm. He weighed 7lb. 12oz. and was 21 inches tall.

Pam and I have decided to call him Nathaniel Jensen. Nathaniel means “Gift from God” and Jensen means “God is Gracious”.

We don’t completely understand why God took our son away from us before we even had a chance to hold him in our arms. However, we do realize that God’s plans are greater than our plans, and no matter how much we love Nathaniel, God loves him and us even more.

We would like to thank everyone for their kinds words, support, love, and prayers.

We will be holding a memorial service for Nathaniel on Tuesday, April 15 at 10am.

The service will be held at Cornerstone located at 65 Schutt Road, Middletown, NY 10940.

Some people have asked about sending flowers and other things as well. In lieu of flowers, we will be setting up an ongoing memorial fund for Nathaniel and will use any donations for various missions projects and other things that will be a ministry unto others.

My heart is truly broken, but my love for God is strengthen even that much more. Pam and I pray that God will use Nathaniel’s and our testimony to be an encouragement for others and lead people to Christ.

God is in Control,
~ Seth & Pam

God is in Control

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1

I can’t even begin to describe the “emotional rollercoaster” that Pam and I have been through the past couple of days. This has honestly been the “worst” time of our lives to say the least. However, there is one thing that I’m continuing to learn throughout this whole situation. GOD IS IN CONTROL.

Granted, just because I know God is in control, doesn’t mean that things have been easy. I have already asked God many times why he took our son from us. But, then I am reminded of a quote that you can find on the inside cover of my dad’s Bible and is now inscribed on mine, “I will not enter my prayer chambers and question God’s dealings with me”.

God has bigger plans for “Baby Dynamite” then Pam or I could ever imagine. My prayers is that God will use this situation to further my walk with Christ, to continue to strengthen my relationship with my wife, and as a way to minister unto others.

We want to thank everyone for their prayers. The love, prayers, and support we have received is beyond words. Please continue to pray as we continue to understand just how IN CONTROL God really is.

God is our Refuge and Strength, I will not question His dealings with me. In His Presence there is HOPE.

Baby Coming Soon…

As I write this, my son’s due date is less than 2 days away!

I can’t even begin to express the excitement I’m feeling, yet at the same time I’m also very anxious and somewhat nervous all rolled up into one.

The first time I heard his heartbeat was amazing! And then the sonogram, looking at his feet and hands… seeing his profile , it was absolutely incredible.

I can’t wait to see “Baby Dynamite”, see you soon!

Failure Message Series

Recent Series on “Failure”.

We wanted to have people understand that we all “Fail” at times. However, we all have the ability to learn and do amazing things after our failures.

The main concept is how God can take us as Failures and use us in a great way.

We ended the series on Easter with a message how our Failures became Christ’s Failures.

Here are some of the quotes that were posted throughout for the series:

“I denied Christ three times before His crucifixion, but He named me His cornerstone on which His church would be built.” – Peter

“I use to persecute Christians before writing over half the books in the New Testament” – Paul (Formerly known as Saul)

“I killed a man and ran away from home before being used to free my people from the Egyptians” – Moses

“I ran away from God before being swallowed by a big fish, yet God used me to help win all of Ninevah to Him” – Jonah

“I was told as a boy by my teacher, I was too stupid to learn anything” – Edison

“I was cut from my high school basketball team” -Michael Jordan

“I fell into temptation by a beautiful woman, yet God used me to pull the temple walls down” – Samson

“My music teacher once told me that as a composer, I was hopeless” – Beethoven

“I struck out 1,330 times, but I also hit 714 home runs” – Babe Ruth

“I had the perfect Father, the perfect life, and found without fault yet I took your failures and made them my own” – Jesus
