You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to realize that if something isn’t built on a strong foundation, it’s going to quickly crumble. Most of us are familiar with the whole “Foolish man builds his house on the sand/ Wise man builds his house on the Rock” illustration found in the Bible.
However, despite our knowledge of such things, most of us are playing in the sand. I mean, our intentions are good and we say things like “I want to live a life of purity” or “I want to live a Holy life”, etc… Yet, we are being foolish with our foundation.
We are trying to “live a life of Purity on a foundation of lust & pornography”. We are trying to “live a life of Holiness on a foundation of unforgiveness, bitterness, & gossip”. We are trying to “live a life for God on a foundation of sin”.
Cracks eventually come to surface and reveal the foundation below. So what are you building your foundation on?
It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. – Luke 6:48
